As part of our current Erasmus+ project, our Year 12 students do some research on training and study opportunities after their A-levels. Currently, our team is organising interviews, in which they ask alumni about both their life at school and after their A-levels. The aim is to create realistic anticipations and to be prepared for possible disappointments. The interviews are being conducted on the school’s open day (25th November 2017) or at the interviewee’s place of training, study or work.Last weekend, for instance, some of our students participated in the “science night” of the University of Aachen (WissNacht der RWTH Aachen). Since 2003, this event takes place every second Friday in November. In order to make science accessible to all generations, scientific topics are presented at an unusual time in an unusual and entertaining way, including fascinating talks, cinema shows as well as cabaret and musical contributions. Our Erasmus+ team visited one of our alumni and interviewed him about his presentation on the “laser organ”.
Other students visited the study day “design”, which took place at the FH Aachen. Here, they listened to exciting and practice-oriented lectures in the fields of visual communication, product design and also photo and film. After the lectures, we watched a panel discussion in which all the lecturers participated.
Within the frame of our Erasmus+ project “Creating and developing your future”, Gesamtschule Hardt is a partner of this year’s “founders’ week”, initiated by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. Together with the Initiative “Unternehmergeist in die Schulen”, the Federal Ministry called upon all vocational schools as well as schools of general education, to organise an event for students under the umbrella of the founders’ week (Gründerwoche Deutschland).
